Fall Hill Avenue Transportation Improvement
Fall Hill Avenue Widening / Mary Washington Boulevard Extension
Fall Hill Avenue will be widened between the new Rappahannock Canal Bridge and Briscoe Lane just west of I-95.  The project will also replace the Fall Hill Avenue Bridge over I-95, and will extend Mary Washington Blvd. to connect with Fall Hill Avenue.  Utility relocation and site work began in January 2015.  The project is estimated to be completed by April 2017.

Fall Hill Avenue Canal Bridge Replacement

The Fall Hill Avenue Canal Bridge reopened on October 23, 2014 ahead of schedule.

Fall Hill Avenue was closed at the Canal Bridge to all traffic on February 12, 2014 for the purpose of demolition and rebuild of the current bridge. Traffic was detoured on Fall Hill Avenue.

Part one of the Fall Hill Avenue Transportation Improvement Project got underway in April 2013 beginning with the bid process and contractor selection. The contract was awarded in May 2013 to American Infrastructure for the construction of the new canal bridge. Work not requiring road closure commenced in June 2013.  The Canal Bridge was closed to traffic on February 12, 2014 to begin demolition and rebuilding.
