Utility Billing Office

The Utility Billing Office processes water, sewer, refuse collection and recycling for the properties with Zip Code of 22401. Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. applications can be processed in the Utility Billing Office located at:

715 Princess Anne St.

Room 113

Fredericksburg, VA 22401.

Applications can be filled out online. If a physical application is required, please contact the Utility Billing Office for assistance.

All applications require the signature of the applicant before being processed. A water service cannot be set up via telephone. A deposit is required for all accounts; deposit amounts depend on meter sizes. Equifax credit reporting service can determine if a deposit can be waived. All commercial accounts require a deposit.

2. Can I start/terminate service by calling the office?: Water service can not be started or terminated via telephone. To start or terminate your service, fill out and send in the
Request for Utility Service form.

3. Can I have my service activated or terminated on weekends?: No. Service is only activated or terminated Monday - Friday 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.

4. What are my trash/recycle pick-up days?: Trash must be ready for collection no later than 7:00 a.m. on collection days. Collection day is based on address. Check the Trash Collection Schedule for your pick-up days. Curbside Trash and Recycling Collection Guidelines

5. Does the City require or provide trash receptacles?: Rolling cart service may be available in your area. To determine the type of service provided at your address, please check the Trash Collection Schedule.

6. Are automatic payment plans available?: Utility payments can be automatically deducted from your banking account bi-monthly on the bill’s due date.

7. Is there a penalty for late payment of my utility bill?: A 10% penalty is added to all late payments. Contact the Treasurer's Office for payment methods.

8. Will the City allow me to have an irrigation only account?: Yes. Contact Building and Development Services at (540) 372-1080 for more information.

9. Who do I contact if I have a water quality issue?: The Annual Water Reports are designed to inform you about your drinking water quality. Our goal is to provide you with a safe and dependable supply of drinking water and help you understand the efforts that are made to protect your water supply. The quality of your drinking water must meet state and federal requirements administered by the Virginia Department of Health (VDH).
