4. Is there be a military discount or a senior’s discount?: No discounts are given other than free admission for City of Fredericksburg and Stafford County residents.

5. What are the hours in which Old Mill Park will have an entrance fee?: Old Mill Park is open daily. Closed dusk to dawn. Beginning July 23, 2022, a fee will be charged on a “pilot” basis on weekends, Saturdays and Sundays, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. through October 30, 2022. Additionally, the fee will be charged on Labor Day, Monday, September 5^th.

6. What if I am attending a scheduled event, have rented a shelter or grounds?

The already registered and paid rentals scheduled July 23-October 30 2022, and the registrations/payments received before July 6th, do not have the new entrance fee applied to your event or rental. Organizers of those rentals and events are being informed by Parks, Recreation and Events staff how to best coordinate that message to their participants before entering the park.

Rental requests received after July 6, 2022 will have to plan for guests who are not City of Fredericksburg or Stafford County residents to pay the vehicle and/or pedestrian walk-in fee on weekends during the pilot program dates of July 23 - October 30.

7. Will the playground parking lot be available for regular parking?: The playground parking will convert to City staff parking, as well as a turnaround area for those who are exiting the park. Those wishing to visit the playground will park in the main parking lot and be charged the fee during the pilot program dates and times listed above.

8. Will the indoor bathroom facilities be available to people walking the trail and simply needing to use the restroom?: A portable toilet close to the trail and the trailhead entrance of the park will accommodate people wishing to use restroom facilities and not enter the park. City and Stafford County residents will be allowed to enter just to use the restroom, as their admission is free.

9. What age of people who are not City of Fredericksburg or Stafford County residents will be charged the $5/person walk-in fee?: 12 years or younger will not be charged an entrance fee.

10. How are staff verifying if a park visitor is a resident of the City of Fredericksburg or Stafford County?: Residency is checked by driver’s license or vehicle registration to confirm zip codes.

11. What is the method of payment park visitors will use to enter into the park?: Park entrance fees are cashless. Only credit or debit cards will be accepted.

12. What is the purpose of the Old Mill Park Entrance Fee pilot program?: To better ensure safety and quality customer service at a very popular park that currently does not have site staff and is often over capacity.

13. Was this pilot entrance fee program approved by City Council?: Yes, on June 28, 2022, City of Fredericksburg City Council approved the Resolution to charge a vehicle and pedestrian fee to enter Old Mill Park.

14. Will City Resident Parking Only remain?: No, the City Resident Parking Only signs would be removed.
