Fredericksburg City Council voted to extend the Personal Property Tax deadline from May 15 to July 15, 2020. The deadline for Real Estate bills was NOT extended, and those bills were due to the Treasurer’s Office on Friday, May 15, 2020.
Due to the public health crisis, City Hall remains closed to public access and citizens are requested to pay their Real Estate bills in the following ways: 1) online at www.Fredericksburgva.gov, 2) by drop box at City Hall, 715 Princess Anne Street, or 3) by U.S. Mail to P.O. Box 967, Fredericksburg, VA 22404. For more information please call Treasurer’s Office at 540-372-1001.
On March 13, 2020, the City temporarily waived charging a credit card convenience fee for payments made using a credit or debit card for all taxes and fees owed to the City. This temporary suspension will end on May 25, 2020, and the convenience fee of 2.5% of the total charge will be reinstated beginning May 26th. This only affects payments made by credit or debit card – whether over the telephone, online, or, in person once that option is open and safe due to social distancing. Citizens may continue to pay via check through the mail or the night deposit box with no convenience fee, and City online payment sites for utility and tax payments offer an E-check payment service that also does not charge the convenience fee.
