Parks & Community Center Rentals

Fredericksburg Parks, Recreation and Events offers a variety of rental locations to help you host your event! Whether you are hosting a family reunion or a wedding, a sports events, or a birthday party, we are here for you! Please review the rental information below and make all reservations through the Parks, Recreation and Events office located in the Dorothy Hart Community Center. There will be a 10% cancellation fee on all rentals.

Alum Springs Park

Alum Spring Park rental rates for summer hours only, April 1 - October 31. Requests must be two weeks prior to requested rental date. Upon approval, all fees must be paid in full to secure your date.

Rental of the ENTIRE Park is a $500.00 Deposit plus $500.00 rental fee per day. Any rentals of the entire park will require proof of liability insurance of at least $1,000,000.00 for the period covering the event.

Alcohol usage for the entire park $500 deposit plus usage fee of $100. The alcohol fees are in addition to the VA ABC License, deposit and rental fees for shelter, open spaces and/or entire park rentals.*

Larger group rentals must be approved by Director and rate will be determined by size of the group.

Rentals must be cleaned up and completely out of the facility at the end of the rental time. If not, then deposits may be forfeited.  $150 deposit for all groups to reserve the time, refundable if no damage done to pool area, if renter leaves on time and cleans up after group. Deposit in addition to rental fee.

Registration opens March 1st. Available: Fridays between 8:00pm-11:00pm / Saturdays and Sundays between 8am-11am and 7:00pm – 11:00pm. Availability subject to change.



Dorothy Hart Community Center

* Requests must be 2 weeks prior to requested date. Rental deposit is due at time of reservation. All other fees must be paid at least two weeks prior to rental date. Failure to do so will result in loss of reservation and forfeiture of rental deposit. Deposit fees are refundable within 30 days of event, barring no problems with rental. Administrative fees are non- refundable.

Alcohol usage: Requires also a VA ABC permit and special event liability insurance in the amount of $1 million dollars effective the date of the event and listing the City of Fredericksburg as the insured for events.

The Dorothy Hart Community Center is in use most of the year due to our own programs with our department and can only be reserved 6 months ahead of desired date. Days the center is not available: Earth Day Festival in April, Thanksgiving Day & Weekend, 1st Saturday of December, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day & weekend and New Years Eve.



Old Mill Park

Requests must be 2 weeks prior to requested date. Upon approval fees must be paid in full. Due to the popularity of the shelter the 4 hour blocks are as follows 9am-1pm and 3pm-7pm during the summer hours which are from April 1st-October 31st.

Old Mill Shelter 2: size: 54'x29', 10 picnic tables, 2 grills, 4 outlets, 3 trash cans, additional electric if needed, a water spigot, and close to the river and canoe boat launch  

Old Mill Pad 3: size 50'x23', 10 picnic tables, 2 grills, 5 outlets, 4 trash cans, additional electrical if needed 

Rental of the ENTIRE park is $1,000 deposit/ $1,000 rental per day. Any rentals of the entire park will required proof of liability insurance of $1,000,000.00 for the period covering the event. Which can be purchased here: http://www.specialeventinsurance.com 

Rental of Half of the park is $500.00 deposit/ $500.00 rental and is only half day.

For any alcohol usage an VA ABC permit is required and special liability special event policy in the amount of $1 million dollars listing the City of Fredericksburg as the name insured.  

Old Mill Park is not available on the following days: Earth Day Festival in April, the 4th of July, and other days that the entire park is rented for Private Events.


Hurkamp Park

The park is the same location as the city's Farmers Market and is not available to rent during Farmers Market hours Saturdays, April through November from 6am - 3pm.


Memorial Park

Open Area Park, also known as Kenmore Park

Requests must be made 2 weeks prior to requested date. Upon approval fees must be paid in full. The rates are the basic fees for usage of the park but depending on the event fees may vary. This is for reserving the open grass area on Kenmore Avenue in the park.

Riverfront Park

Riverfront Park, located at 713 Sophia Street (encompassing the 500-700 blocks) in Historic Downtown, is a nearly 4-acre property and the City’s first “smart” park. As its name suggests, it features fantastic Rappahannock River views and includes open space, event space, an interactive water feature, a meadow area, and a children’s play area. Riverfront Park’s play area and walkways are opening in fall of 2021. The performance lawn and meadow area will remain closed until spring 2022 after the grass and vegetation is more established. Located across the street from the City’s public parking garage.

Virginia ABC License IS REQUIRED for any park rental that is consuming alcohol and is in addition to the alcohol fees listed above. Virginia ABC License can be applied for.
