The Fredericksburg Fire Department provides emergency medical services (EMS) in addition to its fire suppression services. Our department staffs one advanced life support ambulance 24/7/365 and a second unit is staffed Monday through Friday between the hours of 5:30 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. Medic 2 is owned by the Fire Department and is stationed at our Altoona Drive station off of Plank Road. Medic 1 responds to calls for assistance from our downtown station on Princess Anne Street.
All of our employees are minimally certified as Emergency Medical Technician - Basics. Many of the fire suppression personnel are also certified as intermediates or paramedics. The department provides additional first response services from fire apparatus when ambulances are delayed or additional support is needed.
Our advanced life support personnel provide services such as IV therapy and medications, in addition to advanced airway control techniques. In addition to the EMS Companies on shift the below personnel staff the second EMS unit at Fire Station 1, Monday through Friday from 5:30 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.
