MediCorp Health System, a senior Partner of FRED, won the Virginia Transit Association's 2001 Outstanding Contribution to Transit by a Business Award. The Partnership between MediCorp and the City of Fredericksburg is a unique model for other transit systems in Virginia in demonstrating how entire communities are strengthened when local businesses and transit properties work together.

FRED was recognized at the CTAA 2001 EXPO as one of five model transportation systems in the United States for innovation.

FRED received the Community Transportation Association of America's National Community Transportation System of the Year Award for 1998.

The City of Fredericksburg was awarded the Virginia Municipal League's top honor Achievement Award, the 1998 President's Award for Entrepreneurial Government, for the development of FREDericksburg Regional Transit. This earned front-page coverage for the City on VML's publication, Virginia Town & City.

FRED received the Department of Rail and Public Transportation's Outstanding Public Transportation System Achievement Award for urbanized areas for 1997.

FRED received the Regional Chamber of Commerce 1997 Reegies award for Good Idea and the 1999 Significant Success award. FRED was proud to receive these awards that recognize programs that support regional cooperation.
