Transit (FRED Regional Transit)

FRED offers three types of service:
- Basic weekday service in the city and three counties
- Weekday morning and afternoon / evening Virginia Railway Express feeder bus service in the City and Spotsylvania County and VDOT commuter shuttle in north Stafford County
- Thursday and Friday late night service and Saturday and Sunday service, known as Eagle Express, centered on the University of Mary Washington during the academic year (late August through mid-May)
FRED operates a modern fleet of 30 buses, all of which are wheelchair lift equipped.
The FRED staff is dedicated to making your ride as enjoyable as possible. Friendly smiles and helpful assistance will await you at the door of the bus. Along with the drivers you’ll meet, FRED’s behind-the-scenes management team is working to make your trip safe, reliable and comfortable.
If you are a first-time rider, we encourage you to call FRED when you are ready to ride. Our courteous staff will help plan your trip and answer any questions you may have. We want to thank our regular riders for their continued loyalty and look forward to being able to welcome new customers. Your comments and suggestions have played a vital role in shaping FRED’s award-winning operation.
It is the mission of Fredericksburg Regional Transit (FRED) to provide accessible, affordable, dependable, efficient, environmentally sound, and safe and secure transportation for people who reside or work or visit within the Fredericksburg, Virginia region (i.e., the City of Fredericksburg and the counties of Caroline, Spotsylvania, and Stafford).
