Community Cleanup Week is a great opportunity to clean up City yards and neighborhoods. During this week, the Public Works Department collects residential materials (e.g., appliances, brush, building materials, furniture, mattresses, scrap materials, tires) from special dumpsters located throughout the City. NO commercial dumping allowed.
Earth Day is in April each year, but you can celebrate everyday by recycling! Visit the website of the Rappahannock Regional Solid Waste Management Board to find a recycling center near you.
Household Hazardous Waste Collection Days (PDF) are held one or two times each year. This special collection is open only to City and Stafford County residents.
The Public Works Department also holds Curbside Bulk Collections (PDF) for items such as appliances, Christmas trees, and furniture. Some of these curbside collections are suspended due staff shortages, and associated budget redirection.

Seasonal Leaf Collection runs from November 1st through December 31st each year.
