Big Fall Cleanup & Trash Dash

Saturday, October 12  at 9:00am – 11:00am 

Meet at Old Mill Park - All ages of volunteers are welcome. 

We love our parks and know you do too! FPRE has partnered with Friends of the Rappahannock and the Clean and Green Commission to put on this year’s Big Fall Cleanup. The Big Fall Cleanup is a chance for us all to give back to our parks. Please join us at Old Mill Park to help with this community clean up from 9am- 11am. From there volunteers can sign up to clean Alum Spring Park, Old Mill Park, Motts Run Reservoir, Memorial Park, or participate in the “Trash Dash” along the Canal / Heritage Trail and the VCR trail. We’ll provide gloves, grabbers and trash bags.

Halloween Movie Night

Saturday, October 19 starting at 5:00pm with movies at 7:00pm. 

Hurkamp Park, 500 William Street

FREE admission, public invited. 

Beginning at 5 p.m. is a family-friendly Halloween craft and costume contest. At 7 p.m. it’s movie time! The movies will be "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown" followed by "Scared Shrekless." See you there!

nerf-mania-featureNerf Mania 

for kids 6–13 yrs 

Friday, October 25 from 6:30pm–8:30pm 

Held at the Dorothy Hart Community Center, 408 Canal Street

Admission is $10 per person, must pre-register due to limited spaces. Plus bring your own Nerf gun and protective eyewear. 

Join us for a night of action packed fun as we transform the auditorium into a Nerf battlefield. Nerf Mania will feature several short games such as capture the flag, free play with obstacles, target practice and other favorites. Players will be divided into groups according to age. Pizza and drinks will be provided. Bring your own Nerf gun (limit only 1) and protective eye wear. We will supply the Nerf bullets. Players must wear protective eyewear. Staff reserves the right to deny use of any participant’s Nerf gun that they feel is too powerful. Pre-registration is required due to limited space. Sign up online.

Halloween-Hockey-Night-feature

Halloween Skate Night 

Thursday, October 31
6pm – 9pm
Fredericksburg Roller Hockey Rink

Ages: 12 – 16 year olds  (for those who typically will not be trick or treating)

  • $3 per person by October 24. 
  • $5 per person after Oct. 24 and at the gate.

Join us for a Halloween Skate Night. Bring your own skates if you wish to skate. We'll have some interactive fun for those wearing tennis shoes too! We’ll have a great time with candy, glow in the dark items, scary movie (rated G) on the inflatable screen, black lights, etc.

Memorial Urban Trail Ride 

Through Historic Downtown Fredericksburg 

Saturday, November 9 at 9:00am - 12 noon 

Old Mill Park, rain or shine

Bring your own horse. 

  • $20 per horse and rider by November 1st. 
  • $25 per horse and rider after Nov. 1st and on-site.

Registration is first come, first served. We have a maximum capacity of 60 riders. Current negative coggins required. Sponsored by The United Horsemen’s Association & Fredericksburg Parks, Recreation & Events.

Veterans and Veteran Groups are invited to register to be in the procession. Registration opens September 19, 2019. No commercial, for-profits nor political campaigns will be permitted in the procession. Public (family members and non-veterans) are invited to view the procession along Washington Avenue and then join the Veteran’s Day Commemoration at the Fredericksburg Area War Memorial (George St.). Free admission to the procession and the commemoration. Held rain or shine. Sponsored by 93.3 WFLS, FAVC Fredericksburg Area Veterans Council, Fredericksburg Parks, Recreation & Events, and Fredericksburg Regional Chamber Of Commerce.

Parade route is on Caroline Street and Princess Anne Street between Wolfe and Amelia Streets in downtown Fredericksburg.

We are now accepting entries. Entry Fees:

  • Free – James Monroe HS Marching Band, Spotsylvania County HS Combined Marching Band and Stafford County Combined HS Marching Band
  • $50 – School Sponsored Organizations/Clubs, all other Marching Bands, and Veterans Organizations
  • $175 – Non/Not for Profit Organizations
  • $250 – Commercial / For Profit Organizations

Deadline: Friday, October 11, 2019 at 8:00pm or when we reach 80 entries, whichever comes first.
