Fredericksburg Regional Transit (FRED) provides public transit services in the City of Fredericksburg and the counties of Spotsylvania and Stafford. The Greater Fredericksburg region is located in central Virginia, on the I-95 Corridor, between the Washington D.C., and Richmond Metropolitan areas.
FRED is a department of the City of Fredericksburg and is directly managed and operated by City of Fredericksburg employees.
FRED's Transit Development Plan
Transit Development Plans (TDPs) are required by the Department of Rail and Transportation (DRPT) and help transit operators improve their efficiency and effectiveness by identifying the need and required resources for modifying and enhancing services provided to the general public and also help operators effectively execute planning, funding, and implementation of public transit services. The TDP provides a solid foundation for funding requests and feed directly into the programming process.
