Electronic Signatures
For clerk’s offices providing a network or system for electronic filing of land records:
If the electronically filed document contains an electronic signature pursuant to the Uniform Electronic Transactions Act (VA Code 59.1-479 et seq.) that is capable of independent verification and renders any subsequent changes or modifications to the electronic document evident, any statutory requirement for original signature shall be deemed to be satisfied.
The Clerk’s office cannot help you with preparing or correcting your file.
It is illegal. Va Code 19.2-392.2
The Clerk of Court records, indexes and maintains land records (Deeds, Satisfactions, etc.), judgments, oaths, fictitious names, marriage licenses, wills, and other instruments that are required by the Code of Virginia.
