At Fredericksburg Parks, Recreation and Events we offer award winning nature programs! From hikes and camping, to fossil hunting and adventures, we have activities that are sure to excite the whole family.
We host our nature classes and nature camps in many of our outdoor parks, our Nature Center at Motts Run Reservoir and occasionally at the Dorothy Hart Community Center. Be sure to register for all of our nature programs through our Parks and Recreation offices located in the Dorothy Hart Community Center. Class spaces are limited and they do fill, so don’t delay in signing up.
Try a nature themed birthday party for your little one! Enjoy a naturalist-led program (choose from six available themes) and exclusive use of the Nature Center or Picnic Shelter for 3-4 hours to celebrate. Offered themes are: Feeling Froggie, Snakes Alive, Campfire Circle, Paddling Pros, Archery 101, and Escape Room in a Box. The fee is $200 for a program and a party for the birthday child plus up to 14 guests (max number including adults not to exceed 22 indoors). You would provide all of the party supplies (decorations, food, paper products, etc.). At least one month advance registration is recommended. Fredericksburg Parks, Recreation & Events has environmental education field trip and classroom visit opportunities available for local schools. Topics offered are Seedsploration, For Goodness Snakes, Be a Beaver Believer, All About Owls, Dip-Netting, The Incredible Journey. Bring your staff/group out for a day at Motts Run Reservoir filled with activities designed to increase your group's teamwork, communication, and morale. Taking part in new and different activities outside of the office will help refresh and reconnect your team -or bring a new team together. Team building activities can be tailored to your group for a half day or full day at Motts Run Reservoir.
