Originals of many records presented on the Historic Court Records website are available for research at the Fredericksburg Circuit Court Archives located in Fredericksburg, Virginia. Photocopies of the records may be ordered.
The Fredericksburg Circuit Court Archives, located at 701 Princess Anne St. (Suite 100), Fredericksburg, Virginia, is available for research at the following times:
Monday through Friday:
8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Access to Archive records is guaranteed THROUGH CONFIRMED APPOINTMENT ONLY. Appointments can be made by calling 540-361-4098.
Historic document retrieval will be provided by Archive staff ONLY. Visits without confirmation may result in a wasted trip. ALWAYS CALL FIRST!
Cell phones, computers, recording devices, cameras, etc. are prohibited in the Court House and, subsequently, in the Archives. Some exceptions may be possible. Please contact the archivist for more information.
Public parking is available in the Sophia Street Parking Garage (enter the garage from Wolfe Street). The first three hours of parking in the garage are free.
Public parking may also be available on nearby streets (usually with a 2 hour limit) and in city parking lots located along the river about 3 blocks from the Archives.
