The Treasurer's primary responsibilities are the collection and disbursement of all City funds. Related responsibilities include accurate record keeping of all transactions, follow-up collection efforts concerning delinquent accounts, maintenance and reconciliation of bank accounts, investment of idle funds, and the collection and transmittal of state funds to the Virginia Department of Taxation. Online payments for Parking Citations, Taxes, and Water Bills are accepted by the following methods:

• Credit Card (Visa, MasterCard, and Discover) – THIS SERVICE IS FREE.

• ECheck – an electronic transfer of funds from your checking account. THIS SERVICE IS FREE.

Inquiry (search) may also be made on a personal property or real estate account, with required information, to check account balances and payment history.

Alternate Payment Methods

• Online Bank Checks – mail payments to G. M. Haney, Treasurer, P.O. Box 267, Fredericksburg, VA 22404

• By Mail – send your check/money order and remittance slip with preprinted address in the envelope enclosed with your bill.

• By Phone – call (540) 372-1001 to pay by credit card (Visa, MasterCard, or Discover). THIS SERVICE IS FREE.

• In Person – during business hours, bring your payment to the Treasurer’s Office window in the lobby of City Hall, 715 Princess Anne Street.

• After-Hours Drop Box – place your NON-CASH payment and remittance slip (in the envelope enclosed with your bill) in the box located in the right-hand window by the front door of City Hall, 715 Princess Anne Street.

Upcoming Tax Bill Due Dates

• Personal Property and Real Estate – May 15, 2008*

*A 10% penalty will be added after May 15, 2008.

Decal Due Date

• Effective immediately, city decals are no longer required to be displayed, with the exception of those City residents parking in the City Resident only section of the VRE lot. You may also purchase a City decal to show proof of residency so you may enter the Belman Road Recycling Center without showing your ID. Decals may be purchased for $2 at the City Treasurer’s office.
