Filing to Run for Office

Candidates' informational packets with all the required forms and deadlines for filing are available from the Virginia State Board of Elections after the beginning of the year in which the election will be conducted. The forms are generally turned in to the Voter Registrar. The Registrar can provide information on deadlines and other requirements to candidates. Prospective candidates should contact the Registrar and maintain liaison with his/her office.
