Dear Community Leader:
The Office of Tourism and Business Development is once again working on a calendar of events. This listing of happenings in the Fredericksburg area will be entered by each event sponsor on the Fredericksburg Area Tourism Web site. Some events will be used in the annual visitor guide and group tour operators manual distributed by Fredericksburg Area Tourism. We also promote the entire year’s events in a press release in late November.
We’d like to know about any events that your organization sponsors that are appropriate for inclusion in our region’s events listing. Events must be open to the public and have general appeal to visitors.
This year, the events registration will take a new twist. Each event sponsor should create a management account on VisitFred.com. If you go to the Web site, and click on the “Submit Info” section of the opening page, you can create a management account for your organization. Once you’ve created an account, you can let me know which events in the current calendar need to be changed to your control. I will switch events to your management, and you can alter events listings as you please. For new events, you can create a new listing. All events created or amended are approved or posted by an administrator before they are posted “live.”
Please call if you have any questions as we put this new website tool into use. We will be happy to help you set up your management account.
Please submit your events form by October 1 for our 2007 events public relations effort.
Also attached is an Adobe Acrobat form to request banner display space on the side of the Fredericksburg Visitor Center and at the corner of William Street and the Blue/Gray Parkway. This space is extremely popular and allocated on a first-come, first-served basis, so please return your form promptly!
You can also submit your event to the Virginia Tourism Corporation Web site. If you submit your information to www.virginia.org by August 15, it will be considered for inclusion in the 2007 Virginia travel guide’s events listings. For information on how to enter your events on www.virginia.org, please go to www.vatc.org and look on the right side under “tutorials.”
