green star The City of Fredericksburg has a new look! What you see is the result of many dedicated hours from both City staff and staff from the Central Rappahannock Regional Library. The design and graphics were created in-house. The pages were converted and will be maintained using a software product called CMS400.NET. We designed the site to offer improved navigation, better organized, expanded and updated information, and exciting new features including departmental calendars, and a "Most Popular Pages" section for fast access to hot topics. You'll also notice on the new site that the left hand menu will remain the same on every page and department specific menus will display on the right hand side of those pages. We hope you like our new site and welcome your comments or suggestions.

Navigating Our Site

Nearly every page on our site is surrounded by navigational menus to help you quickly find the information you're looking for.

Located in our banner at the top of every page is a drop down menu system organized into six main categories. A list of links to related pages are revealed when you move your mouse over each of the following titles:

Government - find a city department or office, courts, the budget, procurement, city council and city management here as well as boards and commissions
Residents - contains a variety of links such as "Am I a City Resident?", New Resident information, bus schedules, the Library, parks and recreation, school information, city services such as water and trash pickup, and paying city bills
Visitors - find area museums, free parking, going to the river, and Visit Fredericksburg here
Business - here you can access permits and license information, the business development toolkit, economic development, the Chamber of Commerce, and on-line bill payments
eServices - get a police report, access pay on-line services, register for a parks and recreation program or activity, and register to vote
How Do I?- this menu covers a variety of topics from how do I check jury duty to planning an event, to reporting a lost dog. You can contact us from this menu. You can even find out how to get a copy of your marriage license by clicking on 'Request Vital Records'.

In addition to our top navigation, we also offer menus on the right and left hand sides of your pages.

On the left hand menu are the most popular pages on our site based upon web statistics. Here you will find fast access to the most often requested information. Also on the left hand menu, you will find our search feature near the bottom and a link to download the Adobe Reader® plugin for your convenience. Our site makes extensive use of PDF formatted files. The left hand menu is accessible from nearly every page in the site.

The right hand menu will change depending upon the department or topic of the page you're visiting. It has been customized to offer information specific to the department or topic of interest.

Clicking on the City Seal Seal in our top banner will always take you Home.

Accessibility

We have worked to make our site Section 508 Compliant, therefore it has been built using cascading style sheets. Internet Explorer 7 and 8, Firefox, Opera, Google Chrome and Apple Safari can be used to view our site. Our site has been viewed successfully from mobile devices. Internet Explorer 6 doesn't recognize cascading style sheets and you may experience problems viewing pictures on our site with this version.
