Our Leisure Services Division is the source of program and activity facilitation. Children's and adult activities, special events, leisure tripssummer camps and Starfires Dance and Cheer are the heart of this division. Majority of the indoor classes are held at the Dorothy Hart Community Center. However, programs are also held at additional locations throughout the City including Motts Run Reservoir, area schools, local parks, private facilities.

The special events we host around the City are designed to provide fun for the whole family, children of all ages, even the family pets! These include but are not limited to our award-winning annual events such as the Rappahannock Regional Soapbox Derby, Picnic in the Park, and  Fredericksburg Christmas Parade and so much more. These programs are successful due to the help of our wonderful volunteers who donate so much of their personal time to enhance our community programs.  To get information on other events happening within the Rappahannock Region, go to the Visit Fred website.

Our Nature Programs, which fall under the Leisure Services Division, provide educational camps and programs for all ages about the natural world that surrounds us.  There is an opportunity to explore the of natural area at Motts Run Reservoir, the wetlands at Dixon Park or a 35-acre woodland with Hazel Run flowing through it. Additionally, these experiences can be brought inside through a series of hands-on nature education programs for public, private and home school groups. No matter the location, students will be immersed in the natural world with an array of hands-on activities designed to meet Virginia SOL testing standards.

The Athletics Division continues to meet its mission to enhance the lives of citizens by providing diverse sports and fitness programs. The Division internally administers youth and tot sports programs, summer camps and an array of adult programs to include group fitness and adult sports. If you are interested in volunteering as a coach, camp counselor, field supervisor or sponsor, shoot us an email, we would love to hear from you!

The Park Maintenance Division continues to meet all logistical and operational support required for park operations, maintenance and events/programs. This includes City-owned properties such as Dixon Park Pool, athletic fields, beautification sites, and City parks such as Alum Spring Park, Old Mill, and the Fredericksburg Dog Park.
