Historic Structures Final Report
The City has received the final Historic Structures Report for the Renwick Courthouse, the Old Jail and Old Wallace Library Buildings.  Please note the report is a large file with over 600 pages, so it will take several minutes to download depending on your download speed.

An extended version of a presentation that was given to Council on February 23, 2016 during a work session is available for your review.

Fall Hill Avenue Transportation Improvement Project

The first phase of the Fall Hill Avenue Transportation Improvement Project was the demolition and construction of a new Rappahannock Canal Bridge, which was completed in Fall 2014.  The bridge opened ahead of schedule on October 23, 2014.  The second phase, a Virginia Department of Transportation Project,  includes the widening of Fall Hill Avenue between the new Canal Bridge and Briscoe Lane located just west of I-95.  This phase will also replace the Fall Hill Avenue Bridge over I-95, and will extend Mary Washington Boulevard to connect with Fall Hill Avenue.  Utility relocation and site work began January 2015.  The project is estimated to be complete by April 2017.

Riverfront Park Project
The City has initiated efforts to design and construct the new Riverfront Park, which will be a significant new public space in downtown Fredericksburg. In 2011, the City acquired the former Masonic Lodge riverfront property at 609 Sophia Street. This acquisition increased the amount of contiguous City-owned land along the riverfront and creates new opportunities for a beautiful outdoor amenity and attraction along the banks of the Rappahannock River. The City established a Riverfront Task Force to guide the design process from an initial park vision to preliminary design options to final concept design.
