Tactical Emergency Medical Services
The
Fredericksburg Police Department requested medical support from the
Fire Department for its Special Equipment Tactical Team (SETT). The
SETT is a highly trained specialty team that deals with high risk
police situations. The Fire Department has formed a Tactical
Emergency Medical Service (TEMS) team to provide medical support to
this team during training and operational missions. The TEMS
providers consist
of four personnel plus a supervisor that will be available to
deploy with the SETT and provide immediate medical care to team
members, civilians and/or suspects. These personnel are certified
from Emergency Medical Technician Basic to Paramedic level and have
been participating in the SETT drills and training sessions since
January of 2007.
