Responsibilities & Services
The General Registrar, an appointed constitutional officer, ensures that the opportunity to register and vote is available to all eligible residents. The General Registrar conducts registration and elections as required by the Virginia Constitution, Code of Virginia, and directives of the State Board of Elections and the City of Fredericksburg’s Electoral Board.
Besides managing efficient elections while protecting the integrity of the democratic process and promoting public awareness of the electoral system, the General Registrar also compiles and maintains accurate voter records and election results.
RELOCATION NEWS:
The Office of Voter Registration and Elections has relocated to the 5th floor (Suite 500-A), The Executive Plaza, 601 Caroline Street.
There is a telephone located in the main lobby to the right of the front door entrance. When the handset is lifted the telephone will ring directly into the Office of Voter Registration and Elections.

November 5, 2013 - General Election
2011 Redistricting Plan Approved - On February 7, 2012, the City received notice that the Department of Justice (DOJ) did not object to the City’s 2011 Redistricting Plan. New Ward boundaries are now in effect for all City residents per the Option 2B proposal. Over the next few weeks, residents who are affected by the changes to polling places and Ward/School Board representatives will receive information from the Voter Registrar’s Office by mail.
