We're Green!

Fredericksburg is fortunate to have so many natural resources and so much green space. The City is committed to protecting the environment as well as reducing the impact of government services and operations on those resources. In fact, the City began working to improve the energy efficiency of its many public buildings in 1996 as well as other important environmental efforts such as recycling, the Environmental Management Program (EMS), and others. Most recently, the City has accepted a challenge from the Virginia Municipal League to report its level of commitment in eleven areas. The very first of thirty items is to demonstrate the governing body’s environmental commitment. Additionally, Fredericksburg has been a Tree City USA®  for over 20 years. For more information on Tree City USA®  please visit www.arborday.org

Continue to watch for updates on City progress as we continue our efforts to reduce our carbon footprint and preserve the natural beauty of Fredericksburg.
