Business, Professional, and Occupational License
Each business operating in the City of Fredericksburg is required to obtain a City of Fredericksburg Business License. Prior to applying for a license, each business location must be approved by the Planning and Community Development Department. It is then necessary to fill out an "Application for New Fredericksburg City Business License," which requires an estimate of the gross receipts of the business. The application lists the different types of licenses and their rates.

BUSINESS LICENSE RENEWAL
- Renewal applications are mailed out after January 1.
- Applications are to be filed by March 1 of the current year based on the prior year's gross receipts.
- Payments are due by March 15 of the current year.

BUSINESS LICENSE TAX EXEMPTION
All exempt businesses must have an "Application for Fredericksburg City Business License" on file in the Commissioner of the Revenue's Office.
A business in the City of Fredericksburg may be exempt from Business License Tax if the following applies:
The business is applying for a Contracting/Construction Work Business License and the job in the City is less than $25,000 and a copy of the Business License from a different locality is on file in the Commissioner of the Revenue's Office.
