Volunteers |

Volunteers are an integral part of how Parks & Recreation functions. We utilize volunteer help to defer costs of our programs - so that they may be offered to everyone for a reasonable fee. Volunteers help with: - Coaching Youth Sports Teams - Volunteering at special events such as: Soap Box Derby First Night Fredericksburg New Year's Eve Celebration Children's Art Expo Hobgoblin Hike Halloween Community Party - Volunteering as instructors or aids for sports programs, leisure programs, and camps.
Did you know that ALL of our COACHES are volunteers? Our coaches give of themselves to make sports a fun and meaningful learning experience for so many children in our community. No expert knowlege or experience is required, just a desire to work with kids and help them have fun with sports. We have a large library of resouces and helpful sports staff to help with any coaching questions that they may have. Please email us for more information about volunteering.
Last year, our department received over 20,400 hours of service and support from volunteers! That is nearly equivalent to 10 full-time employees working 40 hours a week, year-round. Wow. We wouldn't be nearly so successful without volunteers like you!

Sponsorships |
|
|
Sponsorship with a financial contribution is another way that a business or individual can put advertising money to good use in our community.
Sponsorships are accepted for: Special Event Sponsors: Sports Team Sponsorships Motts Run Reservoir Renovation Program
Special Event Sponsors are welcome for Lunchtime at Hurkamp Park Concert Series, Rappahannock Regional Soap Box Derby, First Night Fredericksburg, Music Under the Stars Concert Series, and Children's Art Expo. Click here to email the Event Coordinator for more information.
Sports Team Sponsors are also a great way to spend just a little advertising money and reach a large number of people. With a donation of $250 for one season, the Team Sponsor gets their company logo on the team jerseys, a team plaque with a team picture, and an inivitation to the end of season team party. With two or more team sponsorships, the business or individual is invited to the Annual Parks & Recreation Volunteer Banquet and is duly recognized and honored for their community spirit. Click here to download the Sports Sponsorship form. Email your questions.
Motts Run Reservoir Renovation Program is seeking to improve parking and install running water and permanent restroom facilities at Motts Run Reservoir. With your finanical contribution, you will help citizens to enjoy the outdoor fishing, hiking and nature trails that are part of our City's popular outdoor nature facility. For more information on Motts' fundraising needs, please click here for a pdf document. Email your questions.

| Donations of materials, supplies and in-kind services |
|
Donations of materials and supplies are another way that many individuals and organizations choose to help with our programs. We receive a large variety of supplies... from old magazines, to paper towel rolls, to painting materials for our events such as the Children´s Art Expo.
Many service organizations raise money for playground equipment or park beautification efforts.
Some businesses and individuals have at their disposal a very unique resource for which we are always thankful -- they have a building or natural area that they allow us to use for our ever-expanding programs.
Please contact us if you have a resource to offer to the community through the Parks & Recreation department. (540) 372-1086 ext. 203 or email us. |
