“If you think our hands are full, you should see our hearts!”
Foster care is temporary substitute care arranged for children who cannot remain in their homes due to abuse and/or neglect. Through the Fredericksburg Department of Social Services, Fredericksburg Resource Families offers a Foster to Adopt program. The City of Fredericksburg’s Resource Families Coordinator:
Recruits Foster/Adoptive Homes
Trains and Approves Resource Families
Provides Initial and Ongoing Resource Parent Training
Support to the Resource Families
Assists in placing children who have been removed from their home with a resource family who can best meet the needs of the child.
The Fredericksburg Resource Families Foster to Adopt program is based on a concurrent planning model. Concurrent planning involves resource families committing to reunification of the child (ren) to the biological family, while also committing to adopt the child (ren) if reunification cannot occur.
