Project Lifesaver

Project Lifesaver is a form of wireless monitoring that assists those who care for victims of Alzheimer's and other Mental Disfunction Disorders by keeping their loved ones from getting lost.  These individuals can include the elderly and those who have Down's Syndrome and autism.  Project Lifesaver places personalized radio transmitters in the form of a wristband on identified persons who may wander.  Each transmitter emits a unique tracking signal to assist the Fredericksburg Police Department in locating those who can not help themselves.  The FPD has six certified "electronic search specialists" who are trained to find the Project Lifesaver participant and approach them in a way that eases their anxiety and distrust.

Anyone interested in this service should contact Officer Tracy Ulmer at 540-654-5926 or email for more information.
