Number of Parcels - 8,376
Real Estate Tax Rate (effective July 1, 2012, through June 30, 2013) - 74¢ per $100 of assessed value. The real estate tax rate is set each year by City Council, and is not dependent upon the assessed value of your property.
PLEASE NOTE: In September 2012, the City will switch from using Tax Map ID to GPIN for the primary parcel identification number. For more information about this transition, please click here.
The current reassessment became effective July 1, 2012. Appeals after the Board of Equalization has completed its term on December 31 are made to the Judge of the Circuit Court.
The Board of Equalization has been appointed. In order to appeal to the Board of Equalization, you must file an Appeal Application to be received by the the Real Estate Section of the Office of the Commissioner of the Revenue at 540-372-1207 no later than October 19, 2012. Click here for the appeal form. Changes to the Code of Virginia 58.1-3331 now require that residential appeals may not be heard until a 45-day notice has been issued after the appeal has been filed.
